What Causes A Relationship Breakup

Are you curious as to what causes a relationship breakup?

You know… where things start to head South and a divorce or breakup is on the cards.

Well today I stumbled across a rather interesting article that tries to shed light on the root cause of a relationship breakup. And here are some of the survey results for those who don’t want to bother with reading the entire article.

  • Differences in age, desire for children, work, alcohol and smoking increased the likelihood of marriage breakdown.
  • Divorce was twice as likely for couples in which the husband was nine or more years older than his wife.
  • Couples were twice as likely to split if the wife had a much stronger preference for children or for more of them.
  • Relationships in which one person smoked and the other did not were between 75 and 90 per cent more likely to end than those of non-smoking couples.
  • People whose parents were divorced were more likely to call it quits, so too were those who had children born before the marriage.
  • Couples in which both people had been previously married had a 90 per cent higher chance of splitting than those marrying for the first time.
  • Unemployment and or perceived financial stress of the husband, but not the wife, also played a role.

Now for -> Factors That Aren’t Important In A Healthy Relationship

Nationality, religion and education supposedly don’t play a role in the success of a relationship. The number and age of children, a woman’s employment status and years employed also doesn’t play a role.

Now for -> Divorce or Separation Rates

25% of relationships will typically end within 6 years and 50% by 25 years. Death of a partner is also included in these statistics.

Anyway, here’s the full article if you want to take a geeze. -> Relationship Breakup Clues

My advice… don’t worry too much about these statistics. Just focus on doing the right thing by your partner, loving and respecting them and all will fall into place.

Cheers.
