Men And Women Differences

Why is it that men and women are so incompatible when it comes to communication?

My dad used to say that mum was like a hacksaw in his ear. Of course he meant it in a kind way thank goodness.

For men and women to coexist peacefully together, one would need to be a talker and the other a listener.

Men’s and women’s brains are different. Whilst men have the ability to file problems away by compartmentalising them and separating information, for women, a problem isn’t solved unless they acknowledge it and they do that by talking about it.

Women love to talk, yet men don’t really love to listen.

Whilst women love to talk, they too can be great listeners. The only problem is that many men don’t like to open up.

So here’s a tip for you women trying to get your man back.

  • Don’t talk too much and expect your man to just listen.

Did you know that talking helps a woman to relieve her stress? The more stressed she is, the more she’ll talk, and if there’s no one to talk to she’ll talk to herself.

Most women aren’t picky, they’ll talk the ear off anyone who’ll listen and are happy to go over the same story a thousand times. As a matter of fact, the more they talk about it, the better they feel.

The Process Of Talking Does Two Things:

  1. It helps women to address their problems and de-stress.
  2. It releases the body’s “feel good” hormone oxytocin.

It’s hard to understand why something that makes women feel so good can send most men running in the opposite direction.

Unfortunately, men don’t get the oxytocin hit when they talk. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. A man’s brain is pre-wired to solve problems and offer solutions, so when a woman starts talking about her problems his brain automatically looks for a solution.

What he hears is a problem that needs fixing and he feels responsible for repairing it. That can be an awful lot of pressure on a poor little guy.

Every wondered why women can do a million things at once? They can talk on the phone whilst watching their favourite show and cook an amazing three course dinner without blinking an eye, whereas interrupt a man when he’s watching TV and he won’t hear a word you say.

MRI scans show that women have 2 specific areas of the brain, both in the right and left hemispheres, dedicated to speech, whereas men’s speech centres are few and far between.

When a man talks, the whole left side of his brain steps into action, making it hard for him to do anything else.

So women, the next time your man comes home from work, try to give them a bit of room rather than a blow-by-blow description of your day.

Cheers and hope you enjoyed this first post.
